When to plant Experts would often recommend planting in the spring or in the fall, usually in the middle of September until October. Miscellaneous hybrids (division 8) These varieties combine the beauty of the oriental flowers with the ruggedness of trumpets and aurelians. It is also very important to know the most suitable types of container for these because the most suitable pot will ensure their healthy growth. The most ideal containers include those that have tapered bottom and sides to ensure that air and water will circulate very well. You can find these ready-made tapered trays and pots in the gardening areas of grocery stores. Those grown under shades have wider leaves with net veins. All the plants have stiff stems. Flowers The major charm of lilies is their fabulous flowers. They boast of a number of bright exuberant colors and varieties. They come in bright shades of yellow and pink, white, orange, purple, cream and lilac and many more in-between. Asiatic The two most popular types of lily plants for your garden are the Asiatic and Oriental lilies. The Asiatic variety is the easiest to grow. It is hardy and there is no need for staking. It is also not very choosy when it comes to the soil it grows as long as it has good drainage. Orientals Oriental lilies, on the other hand, are getting to be popular.
