It is described as stately and majestical by an instruction book entitle The Sprightly Companion. The timbre comes from the conical bore which is in contrast to the cylindrical bore of clarinets and flutes. This makes the oboe audible among other instruments in ensembles. This stately instrument has a pitch that is in concert C but orchestras usually use a concert A pitch. Until the player releases the key, the tangent remains touching the string and produces sound. One advantage of the clavichord over the piano is that it can perform a sound like the vibrato on string instruments. The player can move the key up and down which causes the tangent to also push up and down on the string. It is typically played with a pick similar to that of the guitar. The tenor banjo has a shorter neck than the plectrum banjo. It became popular and had seventeen frets and a length of nineteen to twenty-one inches around 1910. In the middle of the 1920 s, the tenor had 19 frets and was twenty-two to twenty-three inches long. If bubbles appear, it means that there are holes and these should be sealed with beeswax. For the didgeridoo to have the correct pitch, the stick will be shortened to approximately 1 to 3 meters. To have a smoother edge, the mouthpiece could also be lined with beeswax. Shapes of didgeridoos Didgeridoos do not have a standard or uniform size or shape. The portion where you blow into is the mouthpiece which is usually constructed from metal, hard rubber, or styrene plastic. The part that creates the sound is the reed. It is made of cane that serves as a membrane to the mouthpiece opening. While the sax is being played, the reed is caught in between the mouthpiece and the saxophone player s lip. Construction It has a similar shape with the bassoon with two parallel divisions attached at the base. A bell made of metal is at the top of one division and the mouthpiece is fastened to the other division s top. It is constructed with wood and the only metal section is the bell. There are some octavins that resemble the tarogato yet with a smaller taper.
