Not all spider bites are dangerous, since the majority of spider species are totally harmless for humans; with the exception of a few venomous ones, the rest are pretty safe. When a spider bites you, the first thing to do is trying to identify the species, if it be possible; knowing what type of spider bit you may be crucial in case an anti-venom has to be used. For such cases spider identification is not necessary; but we cannot say the same thing about the widow spiders that require the immediate use of an anti-venom. Therefore, spider identification can be crucial when you need to be able to apply the right treatment without any further delay. Spiders that live outdoors are more difficult to identify due to the large number of species both harmful and venomous. Trapdoor spiders are not that easy to identify since there are other similar species for which they are often mistaken: the funnel-web spiders and the mouse spiders are the most relevant examples here. Without detailed analysis, a correct identification cannot be performed, and it is usually for the professionals to succeed in such daring attempts. Despite its diversity, all the huntsman spider specimens have eight eyes disposed on various parts of the body, and a good vision for the close and distant potential pray. Unlike the general opinion that associates spiders with webs, this is not the case with the huntsman spider: this species goes out to hunt its pray as it doesn't wait for it to get caught in a web. The black widow spider is not capable of killing a bird that would eat it, but the digestive sickness that would follow, will be definitely enough to make it avoid attacking the black widow again. The female black widow spider is more venomous than the male, and it is she the biggest threat to predators. As it seldom happens for a person to suffer from a brown recluse spider bite, many doctors have difficulties in diagnosing certain symptoms that accompany it, very often such a bite can be even taken for a staphylococcus skin infection that is very similar in manifestation and symptoms. The result of such a bite is known as loxoscelism, and it may appear in cutaneous and system manifestations.
