Although the home made version of a quiet room may not look as attractive as a professionally made one, it will be able to dampen the sound of the banging drums. Carpet scraps are great for soundproofing. Visit your local carpet seller or manufacturer and you will be able to get these carpet scraps for free or for a very low price. On the other hand, light cymbals will provide you with light sounds and less resonance. If you play with rock music, then you will want to go for heavy rides and crashes in large sizes. If you are in to jazz or contemporary music with that acoustic feel, smaller and lighter cymbals will do. These are the things that you need to remember when you are shopping for cymbals for your drum set. If you constantly play rock music with your drums, then sets with larger drums are for you. For jazz and acoustic type of music, fewer and smaller drums will sound better. Lastly, you have to ask yourself about your budget. How much will you be willing to spend on the drum set? If you are just a beginner, you can always go for cheaper varieties. This is where electronic drums come in. The great thing about electronic drum set is that you can minimize the loudness of the volume it produces. This is because you control the volume through the speakers and not by how hard you hit it with the drum stick. In fact, you can even hook up a pair of headsets and you will be the only one that will be able to hear what you are playing on the drums. A good quality cymbal may cost a bit more money but because of its quality in terms of sound and durability, it will be well-worth your money. The stands for the cymbals should also be considered. If you have heavy cymbals, you need to have a stand that is more solid in construction. Other accessories for drum sets would be double bass pedals if you play double bass, chimes, cowbell, and even gongs. Although most bands today will have a more elaborate setup for their drum kit compared to the basic setup, you will find that you really won t need such an elaborate and expensive drum setup when you are learning how to play the drums. As you start improving your drumming skills, this is the time where you will start buying more drum kit pieces.
