A themed event is easier to pull off because you have only one look and feel to work with. For example, if you intend to throw a fairy themed party for children, the young guests may be asked to come in costumes (fairies or elves) and you can have the whole venue decorated to look like pixie forest. You can also tailor the food that you will serve according to the theme. Not only will this party be fun, it could be a fantastic learning experience for all, as well. Character Party You can do this kind of children's party two ways: either you choose a specific cartoon and revolve the party's theme around it, or you can hold a costume party of different characters. This child's party requires some level of preparation, but costumes are available for sale or rent everywhere, so it shouldn't be too difficult. Some ideas include hiding goodie bags and handing out pieces of paper containing clues on how to find the bags. Draw a map to the "treasure". Or you can do an Easter egg hunt type of hunt. Hide pieces of the same object all over the yard and let the children look for them. Pin the X on the X This game is a staple of children's birthday parties. If you have no idea what these can be, try asking friends who have already thrown parties for their children. Or you can do your research on the Web. If you're a first-time parent, this will be an exciting experience for you. For those planning a party for the second or third, etc., child, this will still be interesting as you will likely try to trump the last birthday party you held. However, no matter how much planning and thinking is put into the kinds of food and favors are served at the party and what theme and design it will assume, no party will be complete without the proper kids' entertainment. Children's birthday party entertainment could be in the form of games or visual amusement. Throughout this party the children should ask to one another yes and no questions. They should eventually figure out who is the same animal as him or her. After the party, let everyone sit down beside who they think is their "Barn Buddy". If they got the wrong "Barn Buddy" review the clues with the children.
