They no longer have to worry about getting schooling supplies for their children as required by most traditional institutions. Home school supplies are bought according to need as opposed to requirement. Aside from required learning tools, the parents are the ones responsible for providing other home schooling supplies such as pencils, notebooks, paper and the like. Unlike traditional curriculum which is fixed, the homeschooling system allows changes, in fact it encourages them. Tailor-fit to the child Because of the fluid structure of homeschooling programs, the lessons can be tailor-fitted to the child s capability, pace and learning style. There is no pressure to keep up with the lesson of the day and students can start or finish their lessons any time of the day. This is compared to the big ratios in classrooms, which is currently pegged at about 15 to 25 students to one teacher. Parent-teachers can actually put their undivided attention to their kids, allowing them to observe and respond to the needs of their children. This is especially good in teaching lessons that students find hard to understand such as Mathematics and Science. In a complete study kit of formal home education, socialization is part of the curriculum, where they intermingle with fellow home-schooled children on field trips and assigned extra curricular activities. These outdoor activities are required weekly. Contrary to what has been traditionally expected, home-schooled children excel academically, more contented and socially mature compared to the rest who attend the institutions. Most of them are also more likely to get involved in civic affairs and have higher voting population percentages than their counterparts. In terms of outlook, almost three fourths of home schooled adults feel more positive and find life exciting as compared to less than half for the general population. Unlike with the traditional school setting, students of the homeschooling program are allowed to work at their own pace and to learn what they can learn at a certain period of time. They are not required to finish a coursework without totally mastering the lesson. Because they do not have to learn alongside other kids, they are given more freedom to fully understand the lessons.
