It is actually very likely to take a skin infection with a staphylococcus for a brown recluse spider bite, hence it is good to know that such injuries are rare and accidental. Brown recluse spiders are small, with an overall adult size that does not go beyond twelve millimeters; males are small then females, but they have slightly larger feet. This is the case with the house spider, the giant house spider and the hobo spider; they all live indoors, but only the latter is a real threat to humans, since its bite can cause necrosis. In order to avoid direct contact with spiders indoors, you can use special sticky traps that will drastically lower the risk of being bitten by a venomous species. You should be concerned when the symptoms do no improve within 24 hours and there is numbness or increase in pain. The greatest risk of a spider bite is anaphylaxis: the allergic reaction to spider venom that is sometimes encountered with very sensitive people. Hives, wheezing, shortness of breath and weakness are the general symptoms associated with anaphylaxis, therefore call 911 right away if you notice any such symptoms. Their bite is not very serious, there will be mild and bearable pain and itching, and local swelling occasionally. Though some of the wolf spider varieties like the Australian and the South American ones were thought to create necroses, recent studies have proved this to be a false myth. As a general rule, the bite of the wolf spider is harmless and far from causing extensive tissue damage or loss, yet, individual reactions to the bite are the ones that often show otherwise. There is one thing that definitely sets the brown recluse spider apart from other fellow-spiders: the way it hunts. The whole purpose of weaving a web or creating a maze of threads is to make the perfect trap for catching prey; yet, the brown recluse spider does not consider that enough. The males are likely to leave their nest and go hunt somewhere else, while the females will not go far from the web. The great thing about these creatures is that they have adapted to the harshest of environments from the desert and the tropics to the Arctic areas where they can live underwater. In terms of gender relationships, male spiders are famous for being killed right after intercourse, or at least this is the general myth people know.
