As they say, in all activities it's best to start at the 'right foot'. And for massaging therapy sessions, you may want to wash both feet of your friend with the use of warm water. Add some experience to the massage by adding some oil to the warm water in order to have better relaxation. Next is to dry the feet. In fact there are some schools as well that include the subject of reflexology in their curriculum. For starters, you may want to attend first the basic reflexology training course. And in many training schools the basic course will run from 15 to 30 hours. The basic training session will include lecture sessions, demonstrations and you will be allowed to apply what you have learned. Apply pressure just below the knuckles on the back of the hand and on the palm for the pressure points of the chest, breast, lungs and upper back. The base of the thumb on the palm where thin loose skin webs it to the side of the palm is the area where the pressure point of the heart is located. Press this area until you feel calm and the chest or heart pain has subsided. Ayurveda also encourages the use of herbal medicines as a result of our harmonious coexistence with nature. It focuses on the prevention of illnesses rather than cure. Daily massage is an inherent part of the Ayurvedic healing. A full body and hand massage is recommended each day before breakfast. If a full body massage can be undertaken, then vital energy parts can be massaged such as the head, temples, face and ears to maintain good health. The official introduction of the word and the modern concept of reflexology in the western culture happened in the 1930s. And this was made possible by a therapist named Eunice Ingham. Ingham has boosted the initial study that was made by Fitzgerald and took off from that. Based on her observations, she said that the tension that can be felt in the foot can also be mirrored in the tension on another part of the body. So how does reflexology work? Reflexology uses a map of the hands and feet, the map indicates the body parts and the organs to which the hands and feet points represent. In most reflexology practices the feet are primarily used for the pressure points, though the map for the hands are also useful for those who would like to perform reflexology on themselves.
