Appearance of the Green Iguana: The green iguana normally grows between 4' to 6'. Some of them excessively grow and are even 7' in length. Their tail constitutes almost half of their total length. In spite of being green they have a dominant black stripe on the body. They have monochromatic green color. A tamed pet iguana will soon move freely in your house and will not eat anything by just getting excited. You can take them out for outdoor activities also. Once they are habitual with you and they become friendly, you can play with them, hold, caress or cuddle them. They will not cause any harm to you. It is most commonly found in Mojave deserts of South Eastern California, Southwest Utah, Sonoran deserts, Southern Nevada, California, Baja, Northeast Mexico ,South Central Arizona, and gulf of California Islands. It is fond of living in sandy and arid dwellings, generally under creosote bushes and rocks as its shelter. The Selection of Iguana: When you buy infant iguanas to make your pet, you should buy the healthy reptiles, which are energetic and lively. The healthy iguana is round in shape and its eyes are also round and shining. The skin of iguana should be free from scratches, lumps, scars and cuts. At the same time, observe that the animal you buy is clean and no fecal matter is clinging to it. They have a wide mouth and sharp teeth, short nostrils and exterior ear drums. Iguanas have a third eye also at top of head, which watches the movements over the head. Red Sided Skink iguanas also have a third eye. This variety of iguana is mostly found in rocky plains of Eastern and Southern Africa. Important Characteristics of Rhinoceros Iguana Rhinoceros Iguanas are identified as the related species of Galapagos Marine Iguana. They have their main habitation particularly in Caribbean Sea and Hispaniola islands in North America. There is another species related to Rhinoceros Iguana found in Navassa and that is almost on the verge of extinction.
