- Individuals may differ but for most people, the first working hours in the morning are the most productive. Use it well. Say no to interruptions that you can do without. The greatest time stealer between the phone, the visitor, the prolonged break, the e-mail and the chit-chat is the never ending "do you have a minute? It is often ironic that individuals who focus on the end results and not in being busy ends up in doing much and still have time enough for themselves. Time management involves planning and sticking out to a planned course of action that is directed towards a specific goal. Time management is not having to do everything and being everyone to everybody. The beginner also has to make allowances as expecting things to always run smooth can only result in frustration. The choice is to panic and quit or to remain calm and in control and make further adjustments. Time management at work is being able to identify workloads, time frames, priorities and sub priorities, what is effective and what is not, what should be entertained now and what should not be. Common time and effort wasters include habitual tasks, meetings especially those that are targeted at crisis management, and responsibilities that are handed down to the rank and file employees from managers. The desire to come up with an honest well-evaluated program that could change the way things are being done in the workplace are often those that spelled progress. It is prioritizing which, in most cases are easy to identify, learning to say no when the plan is being compromised, yet being flexible enough to realize that events can crop up and re adjusting the plan to achieve a logical conclusion. It is avoidance of time stealers that are the usually temptations to postpone a work plan. When attending seminars, the attendee has very little control on the choice of the speaker especially if the time management course is sponsored, not so with time management books. There is a wide array of these books online and in your bookstore. As with any other bookstore, you can scan the contents and have a peep at the book with previews and can make a selection depending on what suits your personal preferences.
