Magnets have north and south poles pretty much like the earth. The north pole is the magnetically negative side of the magnet and the south pole is magnetically positive one. Each pole affects the body differently. It has been found out that the negative north pole charge stops the development of growth and infection while the positive south pole assists in tissue growth. Although, there are medical professionals and institutions who are still sceptical of the effects and benefits of magnets on arthritis, the number of people who are interested in trying out the alternative method are increasing. There are different forms of magnetic healing products to suit the different parts of the body which suffer from arthritis. It added that magnets were in fact not effective. Proponents of magnet therapy, however, claimed that it was impossible to carry out a real double-blind study because participants were able to check on the authenticity of their magnets. Some researchers went around this by using weak magnets as the placebo treatment. By blocking their movements, the magnets are stopping the cells to tell your brain that you are in pain. Usually, the magnets used in magnotherapy are thin metal magnets strategically placed on the body. They are placed often times in groups and with fixed spacing. The size of the magnet is essential because you want something that is not that noticeable and can be worn comfortably on a daily basis. From a scientific view, however, there seems to be no differences between the two poles as to their effects on body tissues. Placements Another consensus is that the magnet should be as close as possible to the affected body part. The magnet can be taped to the skin. One way of doing it is to slip the magnet inside a bandage over the injured area. Magnet Therapy In ancient civilizations like those of found in China, Egypt, India and Greece, magnets are already used to heal different forms of illnesses. When thinking about magnet therapy, magnets used are different from those we have on our refrigerator doors. Household magnets, like those in fridge, only have 10 gauss (used in measuring magnet power).
