There are studies who are trying to prove the benefits of magnets of arthritis. The studies are not that conclusive since the results showed improvement, the effects or the statistics are too minimal be considered significant like in the study published in the The New York Times in 2009 by Anahad O Conner. The study suggested that magnets may reduce pain but did not alter the actual inflammation. Also, there was a mixture of statistically significant and insignificant results indicating a larger trial is needed to remove the statistical noise . Post-polio syndrome A double-blind, placebo-controlled study of 50 patients with post-polio syndrome found evidence that magnets are effective for relieving pain. Ideally the magnets should be placed directly on the area where pain is observed to occur. Take for instance magnetic soles. These magnets are designed to relieve pain on your legs and feet after standing or walking for hours at end. Wearing a bracelet obviously will not solve your feet problem. Arthritic pain on the fingers requires placing the magnets on the joints. (Although pain can be controlled with aspirin and other painkillers, magnets do not have the side effects of these drugs.) Some painkilling techniques Foot pain and other aches caused by standing all day can be relieved by having magnetic insoles in your shoes. For arthritis with pains limited to the fingers, a neo magnet can be taped to the affected joint. There are some magnetic products that would often warn their customers of their use and ask them to consult their doctors, especially those with pacemakers, working with high-voltage equipment and allergic to metals. If there are people who intently believed and experienced magnetic treatment, then there would also be people who remains to be skeptical of the treatment. Several conditions that were corrected by magnet therapy include bacterial and fungal infections, pain relief, stress, and certain nervous system disorders. Systems Because placements of these magnets need some knowledge, health care professionals have strategically placed the magnets within orthopedic supports.
