Women's self defense advocacy groups monitor robberies, domestic abuse, rapes, and abductions so that they can get the women that were attacked the help that need both to mend their bodies and their minds. Even if you have had women's self defense training it does not mean that you will be able to defend yourself completely. Blow it loud and long. The more panicked the whistle sounds the more attention it will get from a passerby. Run while you are blowing it. Try to get into your car or a building that is nearby. Do not be afraid to knock on a stranger's door or even enter it without permission if you are being chased. The charge of breaking and entering is worth it if it saves your life. Woman's self defense experts state that the first thing an attacker wants from a lady is her purse. The best advice is to just give it to him, but if he has other intentions, really give it to him. Most women's purses are heavy and can be swung to be used as a weapon. Aim for the head. A good blow to the temple could leave the robber temporarily daze or incapacitated enough for you to make your escape and run away. Once a woman becomes interested and encouraged by the results seen and felt through participation in a women's self-defense class, she may become motivated to do even more. The courses taught to learn the skills of women's self-defense, also encourage the possible victim to flee from possible attack. Women are the logical choice for the criminal activity because most women would succumb to the assaulter's wishes because of smaller stature and less strength. Women were protected in the past by society's rules and a sense of chivalry. Not that chivalry is dead everywhere, a woman has more chance to be assaulted in today's society then they would have twenty years ago. Your local YMCA or women's advocacy groups will also have the information you are looking for. Another source is your states Department of Family Services. Since the fight against domestic and women's abuse is such a prevalent issue there, they will probably have the information. It is your responsibility to take women's self defense courses because if you are a mother, it is your responsibilities to not only protect yourself but also to protect your children.
